Something like that on low heat. Notice the color is centralized on the obverse where the torch pen was touching and the rim color reverse where the flame wrapped around and licked the rev edge. I'm only hypothesizing here as to how but it's definitely AT of some kind due to the type of color, the pattern and most of all how worn it is. Still interesting though
Hi, Thanks, most interesting. Are they still worth collecting? My buddy has a lot of these, all different. i thought about buying them
The envelopes these medals were sold in is the reason for such vivid toning . I have had several and the tone is unreal.
Who needs a silly star? A coin with great color and eye appeal speaks for itself, and yours is a beauty.
If they're all circulated AT like that one I would buy the pre 64 ones but wouldn't go much above melt. Around $1.50 tops each
Looking thru a plastic tub of neckties at a Yardsale in phx. Out jumps this 1878s mounted in a Calibri pocket watch. I removed the care and maintenance sticker and this is what remains. I think I should have bought the tub of neckties and threw all my coins in it for a few years.
Here's a coin that came out of a necklace bezel. The metal gave it some crazy, almost splotchy neon pop color...
i don't know. I should wind it up and find out. I want to remove it from the watch case, but not sure how without risking damage to the coin. Maybe go visit my local jewelry store.......
