Don't let them roll you. Stick up for yourself when you call. Keep asking for the higher supervisor if you're not getting the answers or resolution you want. If they cracked it and it didn't upgrade you're in a very good position for negotiations unless their r&r's you unknowingly agree to by just sending the coin in have this scenario written out and how they resolve it. If not, the ball is firmly in you're court. And don't sign anything if they ask you to
Um, he's a CAC-affiliated dealer; my nicest Woody Lincoln (no, you haven't seen it yet ) came from him and if you want a Proof Shield Nickel (or 3CN) he's your guy. I think he probably knows what to do from here.
Thought it would upgrade, cracked it, realized it wouldn't, reslabbed it in new holder at original grade, but the CAC sticker is gone. They don't guarantee the CAC sticker so you might get a free submission voucher because they changed the holder, but if it was me that is all I would offer you, take it or leave it. Remember THEY are the ones that get to decide what adequate compensation is.
IMO from the mouths of many collectors/dealers: PCGS does not give a ..... about them, those, these, or anything else. In most cases, they never have and they never will. Such a shame. If enough Koolaide drinkers start taking their business someplace else, they MAY improve customer service; but I doubt it.
You won't get many arguments that that department could use a new manager and should be rebuilt from scratch. It's a shame too when several employees go out of their way and people like Phil who does the TrueViews is extremely customer friendly but the customer service department is so hit or miss. I won't name names but there's one person if they answer I just hang up and call back hoping for someone else.
SO, I spoke with a supervisor. She said they never cracked it out, but there was some disagreement as to whether it was DMPL or PL, so (I'm guessing here) that it just sat on someone's desk for 3 or 4 days until they got around to looking at it (which is why it took 10 business days to get the Express order done), at which point they decided to leave it the same grade. She also said that they commonly remove the coin from their system and Coin Facts for reconsideration orders and the fact that it was removed from the pop number and Coin Facts was not an indicator that it was ever cracked out. Who knew!?! Alas, I'm an idiot, and I'm running it thru reconsideration again while it's still there so I don't have to pay shipping twice. Maybe if I throw more money at them they'll give the coin what it deserves. (NOT!) Lesson learned in not getting my hopes up. Lesson NOT learned in terms of paying more money for no change in results, in all likelihood.
The only thing I may get out of this is a voucher for a free Express coin or they'll charge me for regular service instead and save me $28. Whoop-tee-do.
You did better than most would have if you end up getting that. Fingers crossed the deciding vote goes in your favor this time.
