1797 half dime - cool die state!

    Hi guys!

    Sorry to be gone so long. Been missing you good folks!

    Anyway, a cool coin came through and I decided to post up pics.

    I'll leave most commentary to the CT Krewe.

    But I gotta say two things: it's in full grade NGC plastic,*=AND=* there are some very cool things about the die state.

    That reverse die was worn out!! Very nice coin. I'm guessing xf 40-45 depending how they saw the reverse

    V-1 R-3 Early die state as I don't see any of the cracks that form on this variety. Interesting die clash on the reverse which I don't see mentioned in the references. Good thing they tend to be more lenient on the early coins or I don't think it would have straight graded.

    Looking closely at the plate in Federal Half Dimes 1792 - 1837 you can see traces of the clash on the reverse but they are nowhere near ass bold as the clash on this coin.
