Congratulations!! The reverse is absolutely wonderful when it's notoriously incomplete. A beautiful example of a great, historic type.
Both of the coins from Volodya and Carthago are stunning coins. Jealousy doesn't even come close to describing what I feel about those coins.
I know you've got your own fancy picture taking requirements and all, but, you know, I'm curious. Like, dying over here, curious! Share just one??
I do try to avoid tempting shipping fate, but one image can't hurt! As-per usual with NAC, it looks considerably nicer in hand. It's a type I already have but represents a great upgrade in centering, detail, and overall appeal:
Yes, it's been confirmed that I won the coin in which I was most interested. The second coin was somewhat below my desired grade so I made a lowball offer that missed the mark. You wouldn't be looking to upgrade your already excellent Ides of March denarius, would you? Only 400,000 CHF plus buyer's fee!
I noticed, lol! I'm pretty sure I was bidding against a friend of mine. We agreed to disagree on this coin. This variety without control mark is really quite rare. I was hoping no one else would notice!
I got one. absolutely BLOWN away on 5 other bids... Etruria, Populonia 2 ½ asses 3rd century BC, AR 0.85 g. Radiate female head r.; behind, CII. Rev. Blank. EC 104 (misdescribed, Female head with an Attic helmet). Historia Numorum Italy 179. Of the highest rarity, apparently only the second specimen known. Dark patina and about very fine From the collection of E.E. Clain-Stefanelli. A SESTERTIUS!
I am too, but not intently. If I'm not careful, I'm worried I'll bid on 1906 which I'll never be happy with. Better to just let the sale drift by in the background.
Congratulations!! I actually did consider it after seeing it in hand (it is even nicer than their images) but ultimately passed. If I do upgrade in the future, there are two possible examples I have my eye set on which I'll wait for, but I may need to sell my left leg depending on what the prices look like at that point.
