I was messing around and came across this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/1894-p-MORGAN-D...ryZ39465QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Notice who is selling the coin and for whom he is selling it. I guess I am missing something?:headbang: :headbang:
It would kinda make sense if it were his mother selling it for him & the coin was given to her....? But send the payment to Jason Yarbourogh ? Is that the son or is it the seller - If its the seller it really doesnt make sense.:desk:
um, my nephew's father is not my sister's husband. he will still have a dad when his father dies. there are many reasons this happens, like the guy died a few years ago and the wife remarried, adoption, divorce, or who knows what. they are in KY so anything is possible... you ever heard that song "I'm My Own Grandpa" -steve
The seller knows nothing about coins, but manages to mention in the title and description that it is an 1894-P. Hmmm....there are know P's on Morgans, so I wonder how the seller knew it was from Philly. I wouldn't buy it. The pics are horrible and it looks discolored around the mintmark. If it is truly being sold for a boy who just lost his father, then my prayers go out to them.
Maybe a step daddy. I just think it's a shame that someone PAST away. Guess that would make him the past tense.
Thats reallllyyy smart, lets put our name and adress out there for everyone who uses eBay to see.........
It's probably the mother, although the ship to address has a guy's name in it... LOL that was exactly what I thought of when I read that.
just checked there feedback, they buy morgans all the time.......and sell wireless nokia .....................looks fishy to me.
I also buy and sell on eBay and this one is definitely suspect. Why wouldn't the money go to the seller and the seller give it to the son? The greed factor is in play. They already have 6 bids? It is listings like this that need give the market a bad name. Thanks for the post.
The coin does not look too bad, although it has been scuffed up and hairlined. (polished ages ago ???). Stay away from seller.
I think my biggest pet peeve on e-bay is when people start giving the "history" of an item. All kinds of bells and whistles go off in my head. Just show the coin with a clear picture and SHUT UP. I refuse to bid on anything where they go on and on about unrelated stuff. Suspicious.
I did that when I first started selling on eBay. I wrote about the history of the images on the obverse and reverse. I added all the "stats" from the coins...weight, diameter, thickness, metal composition...etc... I found when I stopped putting all that stuff in, the bids on my auctions increased substantially. Plus, they took less time to list.
