Thanks Bill I tried posting another pic here by clicking "reply" but it didn't make it. Don't know why. Anyway it did come through when I started another thread called 1987 Mexican 500 Peso. Thanks Bill.
Victor: Very interesting, especially since the doubling is not complete. Apparently a double die that the Mexican mint decided to 'clean up' and use the die anyway (to save money).
It's a weird one for sure. I have a bunch of older Kennedy halfs with machine doubling but this Mexican coin is different. Some how I guess I can't add more photos to my existing threads. ?? There are 2 more pics I would like to post. So I guess I'll start new threads to get them on here. The titles will be Mex #3 and Mex#4.
I couldn't get the picture on #3, but here especially on the top right corners of the letters, I say die detoriation (or however you spell it). Look at the U N & I top right corners. (My spelling is so bad that even Word Perfect's suggestions don't help.)
Victor: Now you are driving me nuts. (Not that it takes a lot). The O & the S look pretty good, altho they may still be shelf doubling. Hard to tell.
Hi, Yep, the picture shows some characteristics of mechanical, flat, shelflike, doubling. And...You are welcome!!! Thanks, Bill
