Do you think it would be wise to pick up a few of the 2006 old mint comm. silver dollar (unc) in ms70 (NGC)? They only had a mintage of 60,000, and the reverse is a classic. You opinions please.
Coin World (June 11, 2007) reported that the mintage of the SFOM gold uncirculated was the lowest of the series (16,000). If you're looking for rarity, that would be the one. However, I can't venture an opinion about future value. I have 3 of the proof silver dollars. They are beautiful coins. I actually put them into the case with the reverse showing rather than the obverse.
I did the exact same thing. Luckily, or so it seems, I also bought one each of the gold. The gold reverse is beautiful, as well. http://usmint.gov/mint_programs/commemoratives/index.cfm?action=OldSFMint
I agree with both of you on the reverse, the obverse, well, sucks. I wish you could get one slabbed with it in backwards.
I agree they are very nice. Just a reminder part of the proceeds will go to the restoration of the Old SF building.
