It would help if you told us where you think you see doubling.

I see no doubling. I only see damage from hits.

    This IS 'studying up.'
Here's a 95 that's doubled but not easy to see via `E PLURIBUS UNUM `

I'm not seeing it. I see a hit on the top of the W and lower E. Not seeing a woodie either.

I think its just another hit on the coin.. download it and blow it up. The coin has been ran through the mill so to speak. all along the motto has had something run across it, the area in front of the ear up into the temple area has several scrapes, hits, whatever. The coin has seen better days.

Yes the coin has seen better days, and just because there is no historical references on a subject does rule out a "first."

    I fixed it for you.

Every DD, RPM and variety listed anywhere was unknown before the first one was found.

It does kind of look like machine doubling but that may be because we're all looking at a photo and not in-hand. If you do believe it's the real-deal, you can send it to James Wiles for attribution. It's fairly inexpensive ($8, I believe) and if it's indeed the real deal, you'll get named named as the "discoverer".

It is minor and only on the obverse but my eyes could be deceiving me. :)
