Hello, I was on Craigslist and I saw something that Minnesota coin collectors may find interesting, There wil be an auction on Sat. May 21 in Cokato, more info here http://www.midwestauctions.com/lundeenauction/lundeen_auction_may_21.htm Just thought ill let you Minnesota coin collectors know. Huge 500+ coin auction, the link will lead you to a list of coins that will be sold, P.S there will be MS60+ CC Morgan Dollars for sale GL and HH
Everyone needs to be careful at these type auctions - attending one was my limit. They had about 100 coins to auction - all nothing but junk silver. Non-collectors were bidding ridiculous amounts on coins - like common date VF morgans. Makes me wonder sometimes if the people thought they would buy and then run down to the local shop(s) and sell to strike it rich - only to be offered melt value. Sigh...
That's why I stopped going to local estate auctions that advertised coins, they were all like that. Little or nothing of any real value, and all bid up to ridiculous levels.
I picked up a 1918 gold sovereign at auction last weekend for $225. Sometimes you catch them early and sometimes buyers don't know what it is - or they are just asleep at the wheel. I also saw a 1922-P Peace dollar in ~58/62 condition go for $50 with fees. And the second sovereign went for $325 later in the auction. It's always fun to watch and sometimes you get lucky.
