Fake 1804 dollars on eBay

Look at the reverse lettering...and someone bid $50 on it...this is very sad...can someone report them ??

As bad as those counterfeits are, it's even worse that someone bid on them. I have no sympathy for someone dumb and greedy enough to buy an uncertified 1804 $ off eBay.

 

No knowledgable coin collector would buy one. Probably a newbie.

 

Or someone who knows what it is and thinks he can flog it for more in a week's time.

 

For more than $50??

 

Just reported them both.

 

They look like they are from different dies.
So, at least two people are faking them.

 

They wouldn't let me report the item as fake, kept coming back as invalid #. So I posted to the eBay board:

Are there any 1804 Dollars known to exist that are not slabbed?

I know some people will pay a good price (like $50) for a good repro but the fact that the seller says NOTHING in the auction should make even ebay wonder.

I feel no shame over that comment. Yes, it was me - I'm clembo on ebay too.

I think that's the first thing I ever posted on ebay. Am I off to a good start?

 

It says a lot that neither seller has any previous Ebay feedback.

 

We all know about the 15 genuine 1804 $1 coins.There's a lot of idiots out there who still claim that they have found a genuine one,which we all know is a fake.The biggest giveaways are the soapy grey colour & the porous appearance.
