I have a 19?? penny the last 2 digits of the year are barely discernable. I think this might be one of those grease errors. Not sure. I've looked at it with a magnifying glass and there are no signs of abrassions or any other action that would cause the last 2 numbers of the year to wear off. My question is, do these type of errors bring any value? I plan on holding onto it as I thinks it's pretty neat.
It would be a great help if you could possibly post some pictures of the coin. You'll surely get answers alot faster that way. It sounds like grease to me but cant be sure without pics. BTW, welcome to the forum!!!!
to CoinTalk MintNe1. Occasionally a very dramatic grease-fill will command a premium, but generally they add little or no value to a coin.
You might have something, and I think a coin slang name for these are the ghost coins? Might command a nice premium, never know. Can't wait to see pics. Phoenix
Yeah, those are grease errors. One as dramatic as David's would be worth a premium, but otherwise, not really worth very much...
