Greetings, A few weeks ago I went to the OKC coin show and met a man an his wife that had inherited a ton load of coins from their father who had passed away in 2013. His grandfather had quite a collection and I was able to pick up some coins in Capital Plastic holders. Tell what you think of my purchase and the price I paid. The UNC Roosevelt dimes set was at $225 but he sold them me for $175. The UNC Franklin set was at $250 but he sold them to me for $180. How do you guys think I did? I also picked up an PCGS Very Fine 20 1899 $5 Silver Certificate; but that is posted in the Paper section of this site. I think I did fine and I really am enjoying these coins. Let me know your thoughts? Thanks in advance and as always enjoy what remains of your weekend.
Nice finds. Wish I knew you were there. It was a fun show for me as well. The ONA are a great group of folks.
Did good. @Jason Hoffpauir & Idhair if you're in the OKC area PM me or what needs to be done to get my attention. Life keeps me moving & I don't catch all the coming & goings. Seems like there is never any kind of shows in the Tulsa area. I would've made a road trip to the south for a good show.
The 1953 and 1957 Franklins are AU at best, but the rest of the coins are very nice. (Darn, no drooly face) I had the chance to buy a BU album-toned set of Roosies a couple years back for $90. I see I should have bought them if a BU set is going for $175 nowadays.
Swell deal. I've never seen a complete set of roosies like that in a capital holder. It's pretty neat
I was just going to post this exact thought. Factoring in the holders, I think these were great buys.
Smojo, there aren't a whole lot of shows in Oklahoma, but the ONA show is always worth the trip. There is a show coming up in Glenpool next November though. http://www.blackfridaycoinshow.com/
Not a bad show, but it is only once per year (and finding Lincolns I need is nearly impossible now days). I will be going to the TNA this weekend. That show is big enough I might find one.
At least $50. Plus another $60-$65 in silver melt. I would have jumped all over that deal. Very nice.
Yeah...the BU dime holder was $80.00 and the one holding the Franklin's was $50.00 so no matter how you look at it...I made out like a bandit. =)
Thanks. Glenpool not that far at all. I've noticed that there's only a few places to go as far as dealers "coin shops" for lack of words. Everywhere I look locally I run into dead ends.
