Absolutely NOT. They wold Definatly be able to tell unless dan's intention would be to meticulously create one specifically to fool a tpg and even then I doubt they wouldn't be able to tell. Plus there's no way on God's green earth he would even attempt it. The question, with all due respect, is an exercise in futility @iPen

@Cascade That's what I said. IMO, professional authenticators could detect ANYTHING D. Carr made; however, due to Mr. Carr's track record, it may not be easy. ;)

My wife "Big Money" gets them too. :grumpy: She tried Botox injection and it worked for a few weeks but is not going to continue with them.

I use Immitrex. It works wonders and kills it 99% of the time but every so often a big one hits that the pill form of Immitrex won't touch. They have injectable form too but mine generally aren't bad enough to require that. Have her doc prescribe some if she hasn't tried it. It's a godsend!

You're getting at more of what I am thinking - my questions are usually multi-fold. It's not necessarily the scenario as a miscreant private minter to fool a TPG in reality as a business model that I'm getting at, but to fool a TPG as a test to see how good modern private mints are. If US private mints are unable to fool TPGs, then most if not all Chinese, Eastern European, etc. are probably unable to fool the educated collector, let alone a professional coin grader. I recently posted a coin of an old US counterfeit coin being sold on eBay from a seller in France, and that was part of the reason I wanted to know about US private mints, namely Daniel Carr's products.

Unfortunately, US private mints are not as sophisticated as the major C/F factories. I'm not speaking of the "junk" Chinese mints featured in Coin World. Excellent fakes are being made in former Iron Curtain countries as well as China. It is a good bet that MANY FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS are involved. Many of their products go undetected by TPGS's - for a while.

In my experience, most collectors who are not long-time, experienced SPECIALISTS in a particular coin series don't have a chance detecting even half-good fakes. :grumpy:

Large cent specialists are the ones who alerted the TPGS's that they were slabbing the latest batch of extremely good counterfeit cents!

Good thing I have CT members to ask :)

I do my research on coins when I purchase them, but sometimes my "Spidey senses" will tingle (read: I get a hunch because I can't figure it out lol) and I seek help/advice from CT members - most if not all the coin series specialists you need all packed in one neat forum!

Oh, because the information I have about foreign governments? I guess "they" don't counterfeit our currency. IGNORANCE IS BLISS!

And the foil hat joke is funny :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
