The most famous Pop 0 is probably the 1964-D Peace with the 1895 Business Strike Morgan just behind. What are some other lesser known coins with a (current!) Population of 0 that would be huge news? It does not have to be a US coin of course.
1804 circulation strike dollar. Mint records indicate 19570 dollars were struck in 1804, but they were likely dated 1802 or 1803.
1870-s quarter. None known to exist. Unless there's one in the cornerstone. Or one out there somewhere like the 70-s half dime
I believe there are potentially many coins listed in Krause that do not and possibly never did exist. As examples, there are circulation strike South Africa farthings listed for 1933, 1934 and 1936. The NGC population report lists three 1936 (same as the mintage records) but I don't believe they are real circulation strikes. Heritage has sold one or two of them and in one listing, described it as a "specimen". I suspect its actually a poorly struck proof or a coin not struck on a polished coin blank, as according to the leading authority on Union coinage, no circulation strikes were actually issued. 1933 and 1934 circulation strikes have never surfaced.
1873-S no arrows half dollar and 1873-S standard dollar. Both are known to have been struck (5,000 halves, 700 dollars), and examples were set to Philadelphia for the Trial of the Pyx (Annual Assay Commission) but none are known to exist today.
John Dannreuther just wrote an article for the SSDC VAM-e newsletter showing that there were never any 1895-P business strike Morgans made. The 12,000 in the reports were dated 1894.
I almost forgot about these: http://www.vamworld.com/+Listed+Privately+Made+Varieties If something similar to the privately-made micro-O varieties were shown to exist as official varieties, I think every VAM collector might flip out and go crazy.
