I'd bet that Sy would know, but for everyone else, the answer is just a Google away.

I'm pretty much in agreement with the fact that the legislation is nothing more than a political ploy to make it look like the authors are doing something. Both know that the bill has zero chance of being approved since the commemorative coin schedule is already full which would completely miss any 30th Anniversary mark.

Having the funds go to FIRST is probably another "hey what a great idea" until you look at the FIRST Financial Statements. The 3.5 million raised ("if" it were a sell out) wouldn't even cover one years worth of administrative costs.

While I believe that its important to remember events which occur in this countries history and this was definitely a tragic and emotional event viewed by millions of people around the world, this just isn't one that should be commemorated. Not just yet at least.

Besides, 2017 is already slated for a Boys Town Commemorative (100 years) and a Lions Club International Commemorative (100 years). So the bill, in all honesty, has zero chance of passing.

We didn't own a color TV yet by the time I watched Apollo 11.

I would not be against a bronze set honoring each member with the shuttle as a common feature on all of them. This would be an apt tribute and affordable to most collectors with a surcharge being distributed equally amongst the proper recipients. But as was said above, it would also be nice to do a complete series on all of the space accomplishments, perhaps as a reverse design on the Kennedy half where there is plenty of room to do proper artwork. JMHO.

Neil's "One Small Step" was broadcast using a B&W TV camera.

No, it was just like Siri: "Honey, while you are up could you tune to Jack Benny"

This brought up a funny memory.

I don't know if it was an aftermarket set up but I recall going to visit some family friends with my mother and they had a "remote control" for their TV.

What it did was, remotely, it literally moved the channel selector dial either forward or backwards.

Sure. It had a motor on the selector dial. Made a Broadway production out of changing channels. And TVs had to warm up before you actually got a picture. In the 60s, Westinghouse introduced the "Instant On" TV.

Christa McAuliffe has a school named after her in Texas, the Christa McAuliffe Middle School, where they bust kids for attempting to spend two-dollar bills.

The bill was real and from 1953.

How about a commemorative two-dollar bill?

    :)

actually not, it was transmitted via that camera to NASA.

But, they realized that they had no way to 'air' it over the TV.

So, a camera was held over the screen and re-transmitted to the TV stations.

That is why the pictures were so poor, the originals were excellent quality.

It is presumed that the originals were lost or destroyed.

Westinghouse also made a TV that didn't stare back at you! One of the first flat style screens.
