Best coin album (or the like) for combination of raw & graded coins???

As with many of you, I have a combination of both raw and TPG coins from a particular set (Morgans, in my case). Does anyone have suggestions or solutions for conveniently holding both raw/graded in one binding? Ideally, I’d like to keep them chronologically.

Eagle Coin Holders makes plastic pages that can hold slabs and AirTites, but they aren't cheap. I also don't like that they don't seem to hold up too well if you are continually moving coins around in the pages. Unfortunately, they are the only ones I know that can hold all types of holders in the same page.

I didn't know Eagle made Air-Tite pages. That's cool.

Another alternative is to get a slab album and put the raw coins into Coin World slabs. That's the only way I know that can accommodate raw and certified coins on the same page, so you can keep them interleaved and have everything in chronological order.

 

That’s a lovely idea . Though, could I still use 2.25''xx holders for the raw ones? Or would they simply be too loose for the slips in the slab album??

…I anticipate the latter.

 

I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure they won't fit without some kind of shim or adhesive/tape to secure them to the page.

Oh, hmm, one thing I just realized is that the "in one binding" constraint might be impossible with the Eagle pages + slabs/Coin world holders.

These pages hold 6 slabs each, and, obviously, the combo of slab + rigid plastic page needs to be a bit thicker than the slabs themselves. The slabs I own run from 8-10mm thick, so the slab + page is probably at least 12mm thick, which is almost half an inch. At 9 coins/page, with Morgans being a 95 coin set (assuming you want to collect the whole set), you need 11 pages, so the whole thing is going to be like 5.5 inches thick, at least. That means you'll probably need 2 albums, unless you find a really big binder at an office supply store or something.

 

I’m probably ~20% away from the series (not including PR). Needless to say, won’t be buying a 93’ S anytime soon, heh.

I’d prefer multiple albums, I suppose…or anything over my current makeshift amalgamation of binders, slabs, case-holders, capsules….

My items are secure - this is not an issue - though, portability IS. I’ve a good antiques dealer friend whose asked to see my Morgan’s, just to check out and shoot the the s*** over (I’ve sold 50+ of his before)….this is initially what spawned the question

 

They don't, really. It's just that an AirTite used for a Morgan will fit the width of the slot for the slab, but not the height. Each slot has a plastic band across it to keep the slab or AirTite in place. At one time, I used the Eagle pages for this expressed purpose, but like I said, the pages don't hold up well when coins are continually moved around. That is why I quit using the pages. It was too expensive to replace them.

What kind of setup did you go to that would allow semi frequent removal of the coins yet still display them nicely?

 

Unlike an album like a Dansco, each slot is blank (no date/mm). Each page is designed to hold 9 slabs. I had about 150 graded Morgans which required about 18 pages. I had many duplicates of different dates which included DMPL's, VAM's and toners. In a couple of instances, I had grading sets from MS63-MS67. I didn't leave empty slots for each date/mm because it would require about twice as many pages. If I happened to add a new one, I would simply make room by shifting slabs around.

For me, the appearance was much more pleasing having full pages than having blank spaces scattered throughout the collection.
