I just came across this 1990 penny that is missing the "s" under the date while rolling change for my parents. Can someone more knowledgeable in this area plz let me know what it might b worth and what type of store I could take it into to try and get rid it appraised and sold. I have pics of coin but having trouble uploading them to this site

Based solely on your description most likely you have a coin that was minted at the Philadelphia Mint. Those from Denver will show a D, and from SanFrancisco a S. Value is one cent.

If you believe your coin is a Proof we will need to see good pics.

It's a normal cent. No mint mark means it was made in Philadelphia. A D mintmark would mean it was made in Denver. S would mean San Francisco. No extra value.

From what I've read, they can be worth up to a few thousand dollars? What's the best way to find out how legit the coin is?

Then what's the difference in the coins I'm seein on eBay being sold for 2-5k that look identical to the 1 I have?

If it's a proof, you are correct. Please post an image. It's easy to tell if it's a proof.

This is a normal MS coin. The second image is a proof coin.

If you haven't been able to figure it out after looking at the images Larry posted, then you shouldn't be collecting coins.

Slow down there 9ball! Give the guy a chance to reply. He's obviously new to collecting.

chances are its a normal penny as for the missing s it has to be a proof penny and high chances of finding one in regular change is highly unlikely

Larry posted his comment 5 minutes after the OP's last comment. I didn't post my comment until one hour and forty minutes later. He had plenty of time to respond but didn't.

Because the OP failed to answer when Larry tried to help, I came to the conclusion that the OP was just playing a game. So, I went along with it. If I'm wrong, then I would have expected the OP to chime in to the contrary. It's not the first time we've had a troll play games.

But of course "once again" 9ball is out there with his edited: feedback remarks! Telling people (especially the new guys) that then shouldn't be collecting coins!

Man, don't you ever learn? You have an on-going track record of this stuff!

Actually, his page says that he was "last seen" at 7:41am, or one minute after ldhair posted. This isn't meant to defend him or condemn you, just saying...

Well some people have been accumulating points lately ( not a good thing). It is never good to respond to any taunt before you think. It is usually the last one that has the referee throwing a flag. Thanks.
