This is Not a "Guess the Grade," but athread where you give your own opinion and see if NGC stacks up to the consensus. The pictures are accurate to the coin. I bought this coin on eBay from bad pictures for $38. And to bring out the detail on the obverse a little bit.
I'm assuming the reverse is weak because of a poor strike and not because of wear, so I'll go VG08. Really good buy for $38!
g6 obverse, g2 reverse, so I would call this 4 net 3 for those rim dings. It should not grade cleanly, but it will grade cleanly at TPGs...
To me the coin is ag-3, to me the slight rim dings kind of hurt it. NGC would probably be G4 to G6. A really good deal at $38.
NGC said G details, rim damage. I have shown this to EAC experts, and they have said that this coin is a solid G-06 (including the damage) that is worth VG/F money due to the incredibly nice surfaces.
That's a smokin deal, good grab for $38 and the rim dings don't bother me at all at that price and with nice clean surfaces for the age as far as I can see.
Actually kind of surprised they said rim damage - seems to me I have seen worse in non-problem holders. Still at 38 dollars nice coin.
Seems overly picky giving that a rim damage details grade considering the amount of circulation it saw.
