It seems as though my roomate has been holding out on me. He does not collect coins but knows very well that I do. Today he says " Yea, I got like a thounsand nickels in my room, think I am gonna cash 'em in."

He had no idea that I would have any interest in looking through them. This should be fun!!!!!!!

He also has just as many quarters, dimes , and thousands of pennies. I will be looking through the nicklels tonight. I will let you know what I find!!

My co-worker gave me a jar of coins (mostly pennies) that I could look through and keep anything exciting. I just had to roll the rest and let him cash them in at the bank. Several wheats and Geo VIs, but the real find was a 1983 shilling that is virtually obliterated on the obverse, but the reverse is pretty readable. How that got in there, I'll never know. :D

well, about halfway through, nothing special so far, except those annoying 1964. 17 of those so far.

    1-1954
    1-1957-D
    1-1953-D

I was very happy to find a 2005/bison. I have never seen one in circulation. Strange. I have a bunch of the other new designs but never came across the bison. I think the design on the reverse in possibly the best newer design on any US coins!

I agree 1000%. I am not a power roll searcher, but I do my share, plus Pocket Change. And I find more pre-1962 nickels than Bisons. The only one I find a lot of is the OceanView one. But the bison is another story. In fact, I STILL do not have a "P" example of the bison - no need to offer one, I need to find it myself for it to go in my circulated album :)

I have a 1951S nickel if you still need it for your collection. I search rolls for the fun of it but don't have any books or any collection. I just have ziplocks labeled 1930s and earlier, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and Bisons. I do keep all my 2005 Bisons and have 4 rolls of them already taken from bank rolls I searched and from checking my change daily. When I get enough in a baggie, I roll and mark them. I got a Buffalo nickel in a roll about a month ago but it is so worn that the date is not readable. It's still sweet to find one in a roll.

I tried sending you an e-mail but it says that you have chosen not to receive e-mails. I'll gladly send you this 51S if you want it. I just need your adddress. Drop me an e-mail if you want it :)

So no awesome finds in my roomates nickels. The other day my friend who works at a bank got an original bank roll of 1960-D nickels. He gave them to me, and I was very pleased to see a nice roll of uncirculated nickels. Also, I found one lone 1960 (P) in there!! Awesome ; )

No fs found, but at least five or so had no bag marks(scratches)

I spent 150 dollars in cash awhile back, to trade in at the bank for $150 dollars worth of nickels, and i got a few decient ones, the best was a 1944-S that came back from ANACS as MS-65 5 steps.

thats too bad that you didn't find much. my mom was off work today and we went to the bank to deposit some cash for our vacation next week. while i was there i got $40 in nickels. i'm not going to open them until sunday when we are on the road. i uncripled the ends of each roll, and i saw a 1938 nickel staring back at me! its going to be hard not to look inside!:headbang:
