what part of the country are you located in and is it rural or urban? Public or private institution? The reason I ask should be obvious.
When it come to a 'hook' and large photos, the current prices for smallish (up to 32") TV's capable of running a looping slideshow from a USB drive makes multimedia images of coins, places, statues etc. very realistic as long as you have electric power. Old, public domain, photos of sites related to the coins look old (even if only a hundred years) and could make a decent show.
Hello all, if you really want to put up a "shocker", there is nothing like large size denomination currency notes. What you see hear, is my exhibit, which I entered in the Minnesota State Fair.......they are Souvenir Cards. The Fair goes loved it!
Thats cool. Our fairs here sometimes have coin displays, majority is just lame Lincoln penny boards filled or random silver coin clusters from grandpas cigar box.
eng - Nice display! It shows a lot of planning, and a team that worked together to provide such a great display. rrdenarius - Really nice examples and the art adds a lot. My favorite is the Caesar coin at the bottom! Jack
Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it. I'll post some pics when it is up. It will be modest, if it goes well maybe I'll do a larger one later. Thanks to AJ for some sweet high resolution pics of his awesome coins!
Finally, I forgot to remind you that you could also resort to coins of reproduction from time to time to enrich your library. A very fine intellectual project indeed. Good Luck..
