I noticed some nice finning on this merc I have. Too bad I already have it "sold" on ebay. Any premium, or is it just crappy mint quality?
Well this is Cool! As for a premium? I would expect that folks would NOT want a less than perfect coin but, you never know.
I think it's going to depend on its rarity. If it turns out to be a rare but known error, it could develop a premium. I guess only time will tell.
Just like other pictures I have seen.... mushy. The top and bottom you can KINDA see them, but they are almost non-existent on the middle one.
There appear to be a lot of, um, "production anomalies" on this one - finning and die rotation have already been mentioned more than once. Yours appears to have had a tilted die.
I discovered the 1st one & had reported it to Coin World yesterday morning. Here is a pic of one .Mine is a bit more extreme .
Every coin I received has finning and slight die rotation on them. I don't consider it to add any value just more of the poor production standards that have become common at the mint.
I received 5 of these coins and 3 are clearly finned and noticeable by the naked eye. The rim on these coins is clearly wider at the finned side at the left side of the coin. I received my coins on the 26th, so 3 out of 5 is not a good sign for a rarity error. I thought of listing/selling 1 or 2 but I think I will just wait to see just how rare these are.
I called the mint and was told they will exchange coin. Thanks again for the help. I hope the new coin will look better.
