2005 D Cent DD date?

    Looks like some extra thickness and noticeable notches on the upper and lower left on the 2.

    Looks like a very small amount of MD to me.

    The MD is usually explained to be flat shelf-like doubling, while hub-doubling usually shows extra thickness, spit-serifs, or notches where the two overlap and are off-set. To me this isn't the typical flat shelf-like MD, but has the extra thickness and notches and looks like a 2 over a 2. It could be MD or DDD, but just not what I'm accustomed to seeing. Thanks.

    Just a normal coin. It's your microscope light that's causing the appearance of doubling. It would be thicker than a normal date if it was doubled.

    This does seem the most likely cause of the anomaly.
