Am I too cautious on eBay? I look on there a lot for coins and I always question if a deal is too good to be true or legit. For example I was looking at UNC 60 1883 N/C Liberty nickle for $25.99 and I just can't help to find it unusual for a coin of that grade at that age for that price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11953&item=3941128073&rd=1 David
not really because i thought it was unusal when i gota 1883 n/c ms65 in a group of coins for under 20 bucks i think I just got really lucky so its not uncommon.
An Unc. 1883 N/C nickel is a very common coin. Easily located almost anywhere. For that reason, they aren't very expensive. Think about it. That is a 7 day auction with a BIN price that is only $2 more than the opening bid. If it were such a good deal, someone would have already jumped on it.
Oh, no. It looks like a nice coin, and I have a few myself. The picture isn't that great, so I can't tell for sure that it's an Unc. example, but it probably is, and the seller seems honest enough. I see you bought it, so congratulations! I think you will like it. Just to clarify, the coin is a common date and variety, but one that has always been popular with collectors. You paid a fair price, but you didn't get a "steal". Let us know what you think when you get it.
Dealer bid is $19 for an MS-60. Is it worth picking one up? Only you can decide that. The price you quoted of $26 seems a bit steep but if you like the coin, buy it.
Just to illustrate that it can be a good idea to do your homework, shop around, and be patient... LINK
