I've found a few places that are buying boxes of 10, so now I might be getting friends and family to help me get extras... hehe
ordered 3 ea of the dime as well a coin from the Royal Canadian mint that is sold out - 1 oz. Fine Silver Coloured Coin – A Celebration of Her Majesty's 90th Birthday – Mintage: 7,000 (2016) 153794
"Collapsed" The word seems kind but I cannot think of a more descriptive term other than "it blew up in my hand and took my thumb and middle finger with it!"
I logged in this afternoon to buy a few..."Currently Unavailable". Coin World seemed to indicate that they minted the entire allotment prior to today's rollout. Probably waiting to see if there will be any returns before declaring a sellout.
To defend myself, I saved for $185. $20 is a deal breaker, as I suspect it will be sold out before I can save to $205. But don't tell me I shouldn't collect or buy at that level. It takes me time to have that much to spend. Congrats to you for having that in one day.
Looking on ebay just 22 hours later the Gold Dime isn't flying off the shelves even at 285$ free shipping. And no one is watching the $350+ auctions either.
Well some are but I think they've been watching when these ridiculous "pre-sale" auctions first went live.
The only auctions selling are the ones that had a starting bid price of $0.99. Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gold-Mercur...053666?hash=item1c659fc4a2:g:mnAAAOSwlfxXGVLe
Penn Metals sent out e-mails. they asked people to purchase from the mint, then sell to Penn for $250 per coin, up to the 10 allowed by the US Mint. Did not do this. John D
I have to agree. eBay has 400 to 500 ads for these, so looks like the lion's share of the demand was from flippers, rather than collectors. As a matter of fact, the price on eBay is about the same today as it was when this issue sold out, the only thing increasing is the number of ads. If you're a flipper, better dump these fast, maybe in a presale if you have to wait a month to receive them from the mint.
Yup. Foresight is key and one must not let it be blinded by the present. I've been saying they better be flipped quickly. .. Regardless of an extreemly fast sellout or not there's 125 freaking thousand of these marketing ploys
I missed out at the mint. I'll just have to wait and see where the after market goes before I pluck down $300 for a coin I do want.
