I recently got a note from Uriah Cho at Zyrus Press about a new Buffalo Nickel book. Anyone read it?

If you're an ANA member you get a discount if you purchase it in their Money Market catalog or through the ANAs web site. $32.95 is the members discount price.

Sounds like the ANA is looking to make a profit off it's members.
I can buy the book from Barnes & Noble for $28.76.

Wow..that is a good price. Hmm.. The ANA makes it sound as if its a good deal. I'll be going to B&N.

You don't have to leave your desk.
You can order it online from Barnes & Noble.
BTW, that price includes free shipping.

The ANA only wants to make a profit, from anyone.
Hopefully the new Board will be better to its members.
    The current ones stink.

Agreed. So much for the "non-profit organization" hype, huh?

I don't know who's in line for the jobs, but if it's just more big-time coin dealers, then I won't get my hopes up.

    Jody:
I don't know about the dealer status of the candidates, but the President & VP are unopposed, and they are simply Board members from the last group.
They have to get rid of Horton & his bad rug along with Cippoletti, who apparently thinks that he is some kind of god like personage. His attitude sucks.
Remember this is the Board that removed a Board member last year when he had the nerve to respind to a member's e-mail, without their permission.
He was accused of violating the 'code of silence' or what ever they call it now.
In addition, Cippoletti makes everyone (all candidates & local volunteers) sign an oath of silence-- that is contrary to the by-laws of the ANA.
They all have to go before I will re-join.

I don't think I would call Barry Stuppler, "simply a board member". LOL
He's one of the "Top Dogs" in the rare coins/precious metals industry.
Into it neck deep with Hall, Salzberg and company.
I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
    JMHO, of course

Sorry, I agree with you, of course, and the rest of the bunch.

It is that I am just fed up with the secrecy that Horton & Cippoletti have thrown over the ANA-- and the fact that anyone who disagrees with them is tossed off the Board.
They have become a group of insiders with little or no input from the membership.

As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit they should have to post their financial statements and tax return, but try to find it.

    Jody:
How about the fact that Cipoletti is getting over $250K per year and you can't find it unless you get to page #23 of the tax return, with no notations in the financial statements, and then it is buried under Program Services, Management & General and Fundraising.

    I understand, and I agree.
All paid staff should have their saleries easily disclosed to the public.

I think it's hilarious that this organization claims to represent a hobby, when in fact, it clearly represents the interests of it's elite governing body, and their associates.

Go get your law degree first Peter - that's the only reason he got the job to begin with, he's a lawyer.
