Hi, I've got a few NGC holders coins but I've recently bought my first PCGS holdered piece. Everything checks out even the pictures on the website look spot on but since I'm so new to these I have to wonder if this looks OK to everyone else to ease my mind. Thanks in advance, Mark.
I thought it looked fine but then I noticed there's no hologram on the rear of the slab and that the gold on the shield isn't central completely, both of which I think are menial but it is a little worrying given my inexperience of them. The only thing that keeps me slightly more balanced is the coin it's self is great looks genuine weight seems ok and the picture PCGS took it looks identical.
Interesting. See if the QR code scans; it should link directly to the coin's entry at PCGS Cert Verification.
It's a common free app - there are a few - you can download to your smartphone. I use "Barcode Scanner Pro" from Geeks Lab on mine. I was able to scan and confirm the authenticity of the QR code right on my monitor - it does, in fact, lead to the PCGS Cert for this coin. That isn't really proof of anything, but I still lean towards an administrative error versus a fake slab.
Thanks, I think the same although it did make me weary. I will probably send it in for a re-holder in the next Paris grading week as its a scarce coin it's probably worth it. Thanks for your help I'll download one when I get home
Looks weird to me. The reverse of the holder looks like to me anyway a fine crack line above p c g s emblem.
I think what you may be referring too is the remnants of the sellotape the seller used to ship it. I've removed it all now and it looks ok but it sustained a few wounds in the posting across the pond
QR app working fine, PCGS emailed me and confirmed its Genuine and declared it a mechanical error. they said they'll re-slab it free of charge but seemingly think I'm in the US. I'm awaiting a reply from them too see if they will honour their offer for an international submission, as i think it would be worthwhile too have it done given the fact it causes suspicion. this is probably why i got it fairly cheap.
