Thanks, but I'm coming up with my own proprietary mix of dehydrated orange marmalade, sand, paprika and styptic earth (left over from last month's re-pickling exercise).

=> you're correct ... not only is the ERIC-II rarity scale a bit wishy-washy, but I also use it incorrectly!!

... but it still allows me to pretend to myself that I know the relative difference between some of my examples (so please don't spoil my flawed logic and make me sad, okay?)

So yah, here is my Tranquillina example anyway ... she still thinks that she's super rare!!

    CAPPADOCIA, Caesarea- Eusebia,
    Tranquillina, Augusta, AR Drachm

    AD 241-244
Dated RY 4 of Gordian III (AD 240/1)
    Diameter: 18 mm
    Weight: 2.71 grams
Obverse: Draped bust right, wearing stephane
Reverse: Mt. Argaeus; ЄT Δ (date) in exergue
Reference: Bland, Last 58; Sydenham, Caesarea Supp. 617aa
Other: 5h … sweet find patina

Well Gol, provincial or not, your Tranquillina is still mighty fine.

When I collect the portrait series of rulers, I don't really care whether it's provincial or imperial, as long as it has loads of eye appeal (which your coin has)... i'm trying to make my portrait series as eclectic as possible: tetradrachms, cistophori, those nice big provincial 10 assaria pieces, siliquae, sestertii, antoniniani, and everyone needs a Julian II bull maiorina ... really, whatever is going to make my collection attractive and interesting. Who cares about keeping it imperial?

That's one of the many great things about ancient coin collecting: no rigidly defined sets! Make up your own :).

Okay, I know when to say "Uncle" => I will try to remember to update my notes on Allectus not being a Romano-Gallic emperor (in all honesty, I merely wanted to show that sweet Allectus coin, again!!)

    ;)

=> hey, thanks again for trying to assist me with my coin-data accuracy (you dudes are an awesome resource)

Cheers, Q (and Doug, et al)

Nice Broil King. I fired up my Weber today. I do not do propane. I got tired of buying the tanks and refilling them so I hooked up a natural gas line to the house...works great.

Thanks for the BBQ compliment ...

Yah, I like your Weber-style ... ummm, but occasionally my BBQ still goes on the occasional road-trip to random parties, so I am a fan of the handy travel-friendly tank!!

amazingly => that baby fired-up on the first spark!! (yup, she's a northern Champ)
