Interesting coat of arms by the way. One of his ancestors fought in the Turkish Wars near Raab (Győr, HU) in the 16th century, defending Western/central Europe during the Ottoman attacks. After that the Schwarzenbergs were allowed to have this armes parlantes element: a raven (Rabe, allusion to the city name) doing something not terribly nice with a Turk's head. Side note: Until a few years ago the Czech foreign minister was a Schwarzenberg, and he used a (family) CoA with that same "picky" bird. Christian
Christian, thanks for explaining that. Coins, really have so much history. Certainly, these coins are fascinating compared to the boring material they make today.
Thanks all for nice comments/ detailed history behind coat-of-arms, much appreciated. Expensive, yes well worth it though. There are probably less then 10 examples known.
