Ok, I was looking at a coin that I wanted to bid but was unsure. The coin was sent in to pcgs and came back WITHOUT being slabbed and has this designation. MIN GRADE Cleaned, AU Details.... the coin does have a PCGS certification number however but it not in their database. Was it not slabbed and also not in their data base because the sender requested a minimum grade and pcgs deemed it as being cleaned? Any idea's on why a coin would be sent back in what I think is a body bag(??) (from reading forums here) with but with a blue pcgs label and certification. The seller had close to 3000 items sold with a 100% feedback. I hope this makes sense. Thank You..

It's not certified that 'certification number' was likely just used by PCGS during the time they had the coin for grading and tracking purposes of the submission.

I will post a link later tonight and Thank You for moving my question to the right forum.. The coin was on Ebay and ended a few days ago but I think I still have it saved.

It was probably sent in with a minimum grade requirement to holder. You can specify a min grade and if it doesn't reach that, they won't encapsulate it. This one was badly cleaned and didn't holder because min grade implies a clean grade.

The only way a Detail coin will be slabbed is if you put a check in the "Genuine with Details" box. That is located in Genuine Service portion of the submission.

The cert number will then be active.
