I have but one contribution to this thread at the moment, a bronze of Thothorses with Diocletian. This is one of those ornery coins that has a glossy patina. The top image is the color, the lower image is the detail. It really is a great coin in hand - maybe I should try imaging it again.

I remember reading somewhere that a goodly amount of lead found its way into the alloy of Thothorses' bronzes. Does anyone know more about this?

Bosporan Kingdom, Tiberius Julius Thothorses, c. AD 278-308/9
AE Stater, 20mm, 7.6g, 12h; Uncertain mint (Panticapaeum?), AD 290.
Obv.: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΘΟΘΩΡΣΟΥ; Diademed, draped bust of king right.
Rev.: Laureate head of Diocletian right, tamga in right field // ΖΠΦ (587 = 290 AD).

I once got a Bosporan coin from a very beautiful lady, I'll never trade or sell that puppy.
