37 available, yet 48 shown. Shipping is a bit high. I guess optimism pays. Yeah...the whole thing is goofy. I hope none are sold.

Shipping at 0.50 cents a piece. That is crazy, it's not like its one of the 5 oz silver quarters. It is just a plain old dollar.

 

It's just dumb. That used to be a way around their fees, but people like that made them apply to the fees to shipping too

 

I love that is ships from Surprise, Arizona. As in surprise, I just jacked you on shipping... LOL

I think what it THINKS it is selling is 37 - how many do you want... but the listing is a stinking pile of ....

 

It is a very confusing listing. It looks like you can get them all under face, but I think each purchase gets you just ONE of the coins, not all of them.

 

Yeah - nowhere in his auction is stated you get ALL 37 - time to send him a question!

I just looked at the listing and looks like shipping is now $31.20. Wow!

 

It's a listing error. EBay thinks he's selling all 37 so it automatically calculated the shipping price for the lot. It has an algorithm that does this. If you read his description he charges .50 shipping per coin. Of course you won't get tracking for that amount. The minimum amount for domestic shipping with tracking is around 2.50. As a seller you're kinda stuck. If you offer to send a low cost item with just a stamp and no tracking you run the risk of a buyer claiming it never arrived and you're SOL because you have no proof it was sent. If you pay for shipping and tracking on a low cost item you will lose money on the sale. If you have the buyer pay for shipping then, well the nicely worded posts above are all we need to know about how people view that. In the end it's easiest and best practice to have the buyer pay the shipping cost. EBay places a higher burden on the seller then on the buyer. So items lost in transit are the sellers burden. The seller can mitigate this risk with tracking. Nobody is putting a gun to the buyers head telling them they have to purchase the item and with all shipping costs posted in the description you know what you're in for.

 

Well, even so the math don't add up - (does it?) - then S&H should be 18.5$

 

eBay estimates the weight and package size to come up with a shipping cost. Don't know where 18.50 comes from.

 

Well you said Ebay automatically charges shipping for the lot - and he stated 37 coins, 50 cents S&H per coin - In my math calculator it does - 37 (coins) at 50 cents (.50) = 18.50

 

No that's not how it works. The seller arbitrarily chose 50 cents. Ebay uses an algorithm that takes into account the size and weight of the package based, I believe, on sales of similar items in the category. For instance if I sell a stabbed Morgan when I ship it preloads a 3 oz package with a charge of around 2.50. If I put a 50 cent charge in the item description the system would have no idea that I put it there

Man - I have no idea what a "stabbed" Morgan is - guess the system wouldn't know what is is either! I ain't bidding!!
