You gotta see this to believe it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/282002675403?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Is it possible this slab was opened and the coin was switched out? I know we'd all like to think it's not.
Occam's razor... What's more likely, a switched out coin OR the grader was going too fast or hungover etc and just missed it... To error is human. To be a grader that makes mistakes is, well, you know the rest
I can believe in missing something looking at a coin. However, I'd always heard that 3 people looked at the coin for grading purposes. Is this incorrect?
This is the kind of thing for people who buy the label and not the coin, a huge mistake. I am thinking of making a short set of Mercury Dimes in 66FB (45 is 67 no FB) and I am looking through ones that are premium quality and would sticker at CAC.
There's a bumper sticker that says "stuff happens" or something like that. This would fall into that category imo
I bet they saw it, decided it was old enough damage to be okay for a low grade. If you sent it back in however I don't think it would grade today or would be dropped down a few grades if it did.
