Those are beautiful!! I saved my 3000th post for you! Love the Worlds Columbian Exposition coin - an affordable coin in anybodies price range but just looks great!!
Nice collection of interesting historical images, Ken. I am partial to the 1893 Colombian exposition coin as I used to have one before I was robbed in 1983.
Thanks Markus. Anybody got any more comments on the Columbian? I thought it a nice circulated example. Anybody think it's cleaned? I didn't think so.
Gee, Ken, there are some people here who think I am too opinionated, and I put down others if they don't agree with me. But if you really want to know the truth, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , I really like all of them! The photos are nice, too! Chris
Those Washington/Carvers have smashing luster. Nice pickups there and nice images to boot. I really like the Columbian though, seems fresh and right out of a pocket as it should be. It also reminds me of mine.
I am NOT an expert Ken, so my opinion is that the Colombian was not cleaned, but appears to have had some pocket wear, which only makes it that much more intriguing. Dave
Here's some junk I picked up in a dealers 'poor little waifs' box. Random modern 50 cent pieces. I was hoping he wouldn't pick up on the fact that these are silver, but no such luck.........
Nice photos and nice finds! I really like the Washington and Carver/Washington coins - I'm also intrigued by murmurings I've heard that the Carver/Washington coin put an end to the commemorative series back in the 1950s. The Red Book and Red Book Deluxe give some information, but it feels like there's much more to the story. In any case, your excellent photos have inspired me to pick up my own copies at the next show that I invade.
