This is a 2004 P circulated dime with a nice little die crack in eyebrow and on the reverse a nice little crack from scepter to flame.
Cracks, chips, what-have-you is really quite common in this area on the type, but the OP coin appears to also display some damage obfuscated by the lighting.
I will say you can say the one over the eyebrow is a die chip but you'll get some controversy over that and the one on the reverse on the torch that one is raised but it is a crack. My fellow collectors this thread is for the error collectors that are new and young and that are going through their change and could possibly find some of these errors. Not for you old salts that don't waste your time with these. And personally I have plenty of room in my error book and if need be this dime could be used to pay for medication in hard times.
Why only for new and young error collectors? The title of your thread should say: "New And Young Error Collectors Eyes Only" No Old Salts Allowed.
I believe my threads should be for everyone in error coin collecting, I only wish that our distinguish collectors would realize that they were young and look forward to finding these little ones it may have been a long time ago. And now that they're grown up, and do not waste their time on these little trivial cracks realize there are quite a lot of new and young collectors that are extremely happy when they find something like this, it may not be a big and exciting find but it makes them happy and they are also increasing their identification skills. Though what they find may be one of many and small it is theirs to keep our to put back into circulation. But our distinguish collectors have a tendency to put these coins down and tell these new collectors do not waste your time on these little insignificant cracks. I look at it this way if your eight-year-old Came up to you and said mommy or daddy whichever it may be, look what I found, would you tell your child that it's a waste of his time and not worth collecting. Or even a new adult just getting into collecting, I personally try to encourage new and young collectors. I myself as a collector am appalled at some of the insulting and derogatory statements that some of our distinguish members make when a member post a thread like this. In closing when one of these new members replies and thanks me for my thread all the insulting and derogatory remarks about being small and insignificant does not matter to me that's why I will keep posting threads like this.\V/
With all due respect, sir; I don't see anything remotely "insulting" or "derogatory" said regarding such coins in this thread. Could you, perhaps, be talking about something else or referencing a different thread? If not, I would respectfully suggest not confusing facts with negativity; even said 8 year old excited by a new find should understand what it really is and not be allowed to believe/assume it to be anything other than what it is. Facts take nothing away from a "cool factor" or personal enjoyment, or at least shouldn't if the coin and not dreams of riches are the primary interest. With that said, kudos for taking the time to promote the hobby as you see fit.
Of course I did not mean this thread, quite a few other errors threads that displays is negative attitude towards small cracks like this. Do not take this personally it's quite evident you're not the kind of member that disapproves of the small ones, and I think you. \V/
Like I said this is a debatable issue one would say it's not big enough to be a chip, others will say because it's so small it's a crack and some would say interior die break, whatever you prefer to call it that is your choice. And I'm okay with whatever you choose because they're all caused by a damage die .\V/
Do you see? I'm talking about @rickmp's cut in the bar brawl. If it's raised, it's a die chip. Don't you agree? He never told us if it's raised.
