I was at a bank and they gave this to me after I used their coin machine. I googled it and it is a Chinese Dollar (the site also said to look for fakes because there are a lot of them) About the same dimensions as a US Silver Dollar (Morgan, Peace). Can anybody help give me more info on this (rough value, etc.) Not looking really for a grade as my pictures may not help that much. Thank you.
What is the weight? I don't get a warm fuzzy that it's real. Just looks...off... Still, cool that they gave it to you for free
It's supposed to be 26.8 grams and my crappy scale looks pretty close. I am tempted to go get a new scale. I should have one anyway.
haha. how close is pretty close? You can get a good cheap digital that goes to .00 on ebay for cheap. I think I paid ~$10 for mine. The dragon looks mushy, for lack of a better word. I saw tons of these fakes when I was in Korea. I would be very hesitant that this real. Not out of the realm of possibility, but more likely to be a fake than not IMO.
Here's the website on them: http://coinquest.com/cgi-bin/cq/coins?main_coin=17910 Talks about the many fakes too. Still cool that the bank in Casper, WY gave it to me. I'm going to get a scale right now! (cheap one)
Alright, I'll chalk it up as fake but hang onto it. Went to Walmart for a scale and they just had food ones. Will look online.
