I don't tell my wife how much I spend for coins, so why should I share that intensely private information with the whole world?

I think it was $725. Something like that. I had saved Quarter rolls and nickel rolls for a few years and was able to pay the whole thing off at one time. That is one thing about rolls. If you cash your check and get greenbacks you will spend them but coin rolls you won't.

That is one very nice key date.
    Congratulations!
Also, it must be very lightly cleaned, since the obverse, at least is very nice.

Thanks Frank, this was one of the few I put on plastic :( It's paid off now, but for a couple of months I was hearing about it from the wife a couple of times every week, LOL...

    Ben:
At $2,000 that was a bargain, and you can tell her that I said so. (Trends is $3500 in VF and $2500 in F).

(But don't give her my name or ID). I get enough abuse at home.
    LOL.

PS. Love it: FEAR the FRED, coming to a White House near you...

Oh, I think only about $60 or so. I'm no money-bags here, and the wife would kill me even if she knew I was even spending $50 - $60 per coin (well, the coins for my U.S. type set. I generally spend anywhere from $10 - $40 on world and ancient coins).

But, hey, I think I might be plopping down around $90 - $100 if I find a nice world gold coin in that range (i.e. half sov, five ruble, etc.).

I've got it made right now---ya'll have to go back and tell the wife why you paid so much! I'm happy the way I have it set up right now and plan on keeping it this way for at least a few more years.

I have two to share with you. First is an 1872 Two Cent Piece. Hard to scan but I put it at MS61-62. Lots of red left.

That one set me back $1000 but it completed my 2 Cent uncirculated business strike set.

The next one is a 1799 Bust Dollar with better pics.

Paid $850 for that one about 8-10 years ago. Been a while but it's really gone up in value.

Not coins I can normally afford but have bought many of my best pieces from this dealer and he has given me a very liberal lay away policy.

My third most expensive coin is currently on lay away with this same guy. Will share it when I get it!
