Wanted to start a thread for those notes that got away, went missing etc. Here is my story: Was following the BEP with their information regarding the new $100 bills for a year. Waited for them to come out, heard of the issue with printing, the release date was pushed back. Waited longer, then heard they finally came out! Went to my local bank, got a new one, and it was a star note! I was so excited, decided I would place it in a book to flatten and make the eye appeal better. After a few months I forgot about the note. Came time to move, then remembered I had placed it in book. Wouldn't you know it, I searched every book I owned and never found it. such is my tale of the missing money.
My son's school recently did a program featuring the songs of Irving Berlin. I wanted to show him my short snorter with his signature. I searched for four hours trying to find it tearing apart any number of boxes and binders before I found it in a binder of unrelated material.
I put some star notes in a Whitman guide to Franklin Half dollars. I found them 4 years later. Didn't realize I had them.
I don't think you can do that. It's too much like a lottery. Besides, you don't know for sure that the $100 is in one of the books. His wife might have found it! J/K! Chris
I wanted to test my new metal detector so I threw a quarter on my front lawn. Never found it even after searching on my hands and knees and trimming the grass to 1/4 inch.
That's because the kid next door was watching, and as soon as you went inside to get the metal detector, he took it. Finders keepers! Chris
Actually it was a church tag sale find. It is a Radio Shack Micronta 3001 that I bought for $4 with 6 brand new batteries.
