Mr. Fazzari did a piece in Numismatic News this week on coin forums and he mentioned this site and a couple of others. He also made mention of some of our ups and downs, quirky humor, know it all's and helpful members, etc. A good piece overall if you get the chance to read it. I think he is thinking of joining here but has not decided to use his real name or a pseudonym, but maybe we will see him start to weigh in on some of our posts soon. Be nice to have him on board here for us error collectors and his advice on counterfeits.
What do you mean? Many of them can't even spell propriety. But, that should make it all the more interesting! Chris
I saw the article. On the other popular forums, many professionals post as themselves. Here too. For example, Dan Carr posted some excellent info. His expertise, name and CO location gave him away. CT is fun and informative. It is also busier than the others w/lots of neat "tools." IMO, the people who use their actual names miss out on a lot. They need to be very careful when responding , cannot play around , are too busy for games like add one drop one, etc. I did get an idea for a poll question from the OP: How many on CT read either Coin World or Numismatic News?
How many on CT read either CW or NN? Both? How many on CT pay for a subscription to either? Both? How many on CT get either free via the internet? Both? How many on CT get their copies from the trash bins of the local B&M? Chris
I was going to reply to Frank about a link but I'm computer illiterate that way but I think there is a gap between publication time and when they post online. And I can understand that, why would anyone pay for a sub if they could read it for free. I'm a hard copy subscriber so I also get regular updates for feature articles and have to be subscribed on the site. The site access is free if you are a paid subscriber. You just have to register to be able to sign in and access.
I pay for both CW and NN, neither on paper, both online only. I get it before the paper version subs do.
I don't recall how many years I subscribed to both, but I still have all of the issues in storage. Why? I like to hoard things! Chris
I do not, have not, and never will pay for a magazine or news paper, of any kind.... Is that weird? I do have memberships to several Coin Clubs and rather enjoy their publications.
I've subscribed to both so long that the paper is turning brown! I clip out the pages I want to keep and chuck the rest...otherwise my place would have coin newspapers to the ceiling.
