So most of my experience is with ANACS, tracking, feedback, turnaround time, results, etc, generally no major problems. I submitted a coin to NGC back on 25 Feb (my first submission to them). Normal process, "priority insured tracking" so I knew it got there.

Question: Doesn't NGC e-mail you with a tracking number indicating the grading has been completed and the submission has been shipped?

Yes they do. You can track the progress there, too. Go to the 'member portal' and click on 'submission tracking'.

Did you check the online submission status? If it isn't recorded there, you would probably need to call them.......800-642-2646

Be sure to have your account # and/or your submission # on hand.

    Got it! Just found this:

    Track Your Submissions Online 24/7

Posted by Collectors Society on 6/20/2011
Checking the status of your submissions/invoices is easy.

Collectors Society members with paid, full-feature accounts can check the status of their submissions online by choosing "Order Status" from the Grading & Submissions menu after logging in.

This will take you to a list of all your submissions received by NGC. Click on any of the column headings to sort the list by that column. You can also check your grades for any invoice listed as Finalized by clicking on the invoice number or entering it in the box above. You can also check the status of your NCS submissions by selecting NCS in the pull-down box.

I guess it would be helpful if I signed up!

How did you make a submission without having an account first? It's required. Even if you are submitting using your ANA membership, you still have to have a free NGC Collector's Society account to have submission status.

So I was corresponding with NGC customer service via e-mail (first time dealing with them). I had a problem coin (a nice verdigris spot) in an older NGS slab. I believed the problem started after it was slabbed. I wanted to send it in for an appearance review. So I was corresponding with a lady (she was very nice BTW) trying to get the policy and process/procedure. She asked me to send her a picture of the coin, which I did.

Unbelievable! As I'm sitting here writing this, the doorbell rang. It just arrived! That is freaking scary!

Sorry, I'm back. I had to open it.

Anyway, she sent me a soft copy "complimentary service submission" form with tracking or order number. I never established an account with NGC, I just sent the coin in. I never really worried about. I was just thinking they would e-mail me with a tracking number (like ANACS does) when the grading was done and shipped.

Bottom-line: It looks like a new coin. Either that or they may have restored/preserved it. No fee! Looks like they have a new customer.

They must have put it through their conservation service. Did it come back at the same, higher or lower grade?

What the what!... how many guys without am ngc account are now going to send 1 coin in like it was anacs as you have just done hoping to get a free grading and possible free conservation. If I didn't already have an account with them I would... If any of you do this post back on this thread. Let's test this guys to see if it's a blanket standing order to garner a new customer who blindly sends a coin in or if this was a fluke gift to the op :watching:

I'm shocked and pleasantly surprised by this. Put a notch in the +1 category for ngc

Apparently, they stand behind their product even if the current owner is not a member.

Wait, NGC just not only accepted a coin from a non-member, but processed and conserved it?

Did you even use a submission form?

    This is bizarre.

I'm sure she knew or sensed I was a newbie. I don't think it was a promotional thing. Playing dumb might get you some points. I kinda liked that old slab, but what the hell!

My bad; I parsed the timeline of your story wrong. Good on them, then.

Ok, I miss understood. Hard to follow the storyline being so choppy. I missed how you were corresponding with a representative first. Anyway, good on them for offering a taste though.... Just a taste, right. First ones always free :cigar:
