Hi everyone, My buying hiatus is over. Yay! While this isn't a coin, I've wanted one for a long time. Yesterday, I bought a roman sling bullet. It's from the 1st or 2nd century AD. These photos are from the seller. I do have a couple coming in the mail. I'll post them when I get them. Feel free to post any bullets or artifacts you have. Thanks! Erin
Cool. I see them at shows sometimes - the bullets and arrowheads are some of the least expensive artifacts to collect, and fun.
Artifacts are cool, but once you start getting into U.S. relics they get pretty expensive quickly. Start looking at authentic dovetails and fluted points, bannerstones, etc and you start getting expensive.
Cool sling bullet! Some of these artifacts can get a little pricey though. The seller of this Roman pugio dagger is only asking a cool $26,000.00 https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/f...43,+metroCode=544,+timeZone=America/New_York]
That is an awesome fibula, Mike! That's another thing on my wish list. That is s really impressive and expensive dagger! I'm starting to really get into artifacts. My brother got me a scarab for Christmas and, since then, I've been looking up different kinds of antiquities that are available. I'm going to try and save up for another scarab. Those things are boss. Erin
I think @stevex6 and maybe @TIF have some...hopefully they'll chime in and show 'em. I think the scarabs are pretty cool too. I was huge into ancient Egypt as a boy.
Congrats Johndakerftw => very cool OP-example ... => yup, a Roman lead bullet is very, very cool I still only have these two humble scarab examples (I wanted another one, but I was outbid at a CNG auction a few weeks ago) 2nd Intermediate Period Steatite scarab Circa 1650-1550 BC Diameter: 21 x 15 mm Obverse: Base engraved with two crocodiles back-to-back. Intact, once glazed, pierced for mounting. From the David Hendin Collection 2nd Intermediate Period Steatite scarab Circa 1650-1550 BC Diameter: 23 x 16 mm Obverse: Base engraved with an antelope walking right; palm branches in field. A few minor chips and cracks, otherwise intact, part of greenish-brown glaze remaining, pierced for mounting. From the David Hendin Collection .... yah, scarabs are very cool as well, eh? (oh, and they're over 3,600 years old!!!)
yes this sword was forged in Bizen of Tamahagane back when Kamikaze was a wind. It retains its edge, when I acquired it had a 17th century polish on it and was in desperate need. I hired an agent and sent it to a Togishi to have it polished in the traditional manner. Its basically a 700 yr old 2ft razor blade.
I took a pass at a couple scarabs in recent auctions because I love AEgyption history also... Man, prices just RAN AWAY in the bidding. Going to have to educate myself on them... they be cool!
Nooborn must love taking it out and playing with his buddies, eh? (all of the other kids on the block merely have sticks)
Wow, Dude! WOW! I have a Model 1860 US Cav Saber, and a late 1800's Kukri from the Ghurkas (yes, you must nick your skin and draw blood whenever you unsheath the blade!)... but, your blade is AWESOME!
Wow! Thanks for sharing, awesome artifacts! I especially like your scarab with the crocodiles, Steve. I'd love to have one like that. The seller had another one, TIF. I can send you the link, if you want. I was looking at the auction with the scarabs too, there were some really nice ones. Erin
