I read somewhere that the 1982 and 1983 D-P quarters were keepers.... Whats the appeal of this date? Low mint? Ive stacked about $20 or $30 dollars worth of these dates and I'm confused as they don't seem to be very "rare" haha.

did i read bad information? Any thoughts or advice will help.

    Thanks

They are not particularly rare except in uncirculated grades. That's because no mint sets were issued that year, only souvenir sets.

Thank you that helps. I used the information that you provided to further educate myself and I verified that an UNC coin from 82-83 holds a higher value because they are all highly circulated due to the fact they only released a small amount of "souvenir" sets. I provided a link that also validated the information that you gave me and It may help others clear up any confusion I may have caused with the question I asked. Thanks again!

Are those souvenir sets like the ones of 65-68 with no mint mark and only available at mint locations?

Or, are they in some way different?

From the Link that I provided it states that the primary distinguishing factor is/was the packaging of the coins in the clear plastic with the blue rim not the red rim and the envelope that held/holds the souvenir set also shall state souvenir set.

the video explains in more detail on the link I provided.

    Good Luck

The souvenir sets contained five coins, a cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half, and mint medal for the mint it was from. In general they were only available at the gift shop for the mint you were at. (You couldn't buy a Philadelphia set in Denver, or a Denver set in Philadelphia.)
