I got this today from gas station after picking up a few necessities didnt realize I did until I got home. Looks like lamination to me what do you guys think. Still silver either way and thats always cool to find in pocket change.
Looks almost identicle to one I just got rid of on Listia. What a coincidence. Wonder if they were from the same batch. Never will know now.
Interesting coin, lots of planchet issues indicated with the almost-"woody" grain to it. I'm with you in suspecting that the obverse is likely a small lamination which has been worn somewhat by circulation. That's the kind of coin which will never be worth much, but wouldn't ever leave my collection either.
Yes to lamination however they are extremely common on war nickels. Nice grab though. I've heard of a nickel holding up a dollar but you just got a dollar for a nickel
I just looked on eBay and seen several listed between $15 - $50 I kinda got a chucle out of them thinking that they would get that much from them even Redbook says they are at most $1 -5, I just put it in a flip in my silver box and that's probably where it will stay
