In higher grades, they look phenomenal, from my understanding they use a different grading system then the more conventional one, maybe due to age im guessing?
The EAC grading standard is different from the regular TPG standards in many ways. It many ways it is far stricter, but things like cleaning and such don't make it a details grade necessarily, the coin is just graded on its overall merits. Hard to explain without going into massive detail. Edited to add the following. This is my 43 that I purchased as an EAC VF-20. Surely this coin is in better shape than most iF not all PCGS VF-20 that you will ever see, but the stain on the reverse and the many small hits on the obverse limit the grade as far as early copper collectors are concerned. It looks plenty nice in my album anyway.
Thank you I recall that from my Flying Eagle collecting days during my childhood. However, during my last 40 years of my adult life, I have been involved in manufacturing. Designs can be altered and improved for the manufacturing process. LOL, so I still question why such a gorgeous design has been discontinued?
Favorite series that I collect: Franklin Halves. Peace dollars too, though I don't actively collect those. Just have a handful in my stack. Favorite that I don't collect/stack: Morgans.
