<snark>I consider that a pattern, not a coin.</snark> The 1854-D would go a long away towards optimizing my "denomination set," where the goal is to cover as much of U.S. coin history using one coin of each circulating denomination. For example: 1909/6 Half Cent 1943-S Cent 1864 Two Cent 1853-O 3 Cent Piece 1883 No Cents Nickel 1996-W Dime 15 Cent Fractional Currency Note Type 1 Liberty Standing Quarter 1861-O Half Dollar 1880 Trade Dollar 1925-D $2.5 Gold 1854-D $3 Gold 1861-C $5 Gold 1892-CC $10 Gold 1907 High Relief $20 Gold Without it, I have to fudge and count the trade dollar as a different denomination from a $1 gold coin.
About the Ferdinand and Isabella Excellente....man I missed a great coin. Cayon Auction had a Double Excellente from Sevilla Mint in SC-, I also had eye on a Carlos III 1773 8 Escudos Colombia (Popayan Mint) in SC (mintstate)which I got. Probably should have gotten the other. My problem, I ran out of $ ....AGAIN.
1902 Russia 37.5 Rouble, straight graded without impairment. (Bitkin 315, Uzdenikov 4212, Friedberg 170, KM YB65) About 150 grand in MS-61.
Holy Roman Empire AV 10 Dukaten Ferdinand III Prague Mint FDC /Transylvania AV 20 Dukaten Georg Rakozcki II 1657 Klausenberg Mint FDC/ Basel AV 20 Dukaten 1741 (City View) FDC/ Chur AV 7 Dukaten 1613 FDC/ Rome AV Aureus Posthumus Colonia Mint FDC/ Rome AV Aureus Volusian FDC/etc., depends on lottery. Last powerball....1.6 Billion.....every perfect Roman Aureus FDC to come up in auctions/ plus throw in some magnificent multiple AV Dukaten coinage. Sure beats investing in stock market.
One coin? I guess this 1799 MS67 Draped Bust Dollar or 1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves MS65 NGC. If more than one, I would of course do a complete U.S. Type Set; gold, patterns, and varieties included.
Yeah, multiple Dukaten coinage, I could go in for that. If we split a powerball we could likely dump a good portion of it competing against each other at auction on those kind of coins!
I would be happy to split. I always find it amazing when lottery winners make stupid statements like, "My God! I wish I had never won...the pressure of all this money.... or....its so much, I could never be able to spend it in ten lifetimes! Oh, yeah really? I could win it in less then a year....www.sixbid.com=heaven.
You beat me to it! This would be at the top of my list followed closely by a huge multiple taler such as this: https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/lots/view/3-2DF8H
I'd buy a sweet mansion, somewhere south of where I currently live (oh, and I'd also buy myself a cool puppy-monkey-baby ancient coin)
