Nice one Bing! Rag top no less. And a GT to boot. Sweet! I bet that car gets a lot of thumbs up and stares when you drive her around town.
It's a beauty, and, at the moment, requires no work. This is the third, but my favorite was the first. Brittany Blue with a black interior. Sold it to an Irishman who shipped it back to Ireland and almost immediately crashed it. Complete total. What a shame.
Although I'm not into ancient cars, I can appreciate them : nice ones folks ! May I go back to banker's marks now ? Here's the only one I could find through my gallery. The picture isn't the best (coin in hand is gorgeous) but you can clearly see the banker's mark at the bottom of the neck Julius Caesar, Denarius Denarius minted in North Africa in 46 BC COS TERT / DICT ITER, head of Ceres right AVGVR / PONT MAX, simpulum, sprinkler, capis and lituum, D in right field 3,81 gr Ref : HCRI # 57, RCV # 1403/1, RSC # 4a, Cohen # 4 Q
Carthago, does Crawford have anything useful to say about banker's marks? There are a very, very few Roman tesserae that have what are clearly proper countermarks, but there's also a few that have what more closely resemble what we usually call banker's marks. I'm tentatively calling them countermarks because they clearly don't fit the bill for checking metal purity. This one has 'VI' stamped to the lower left on the reverse. Here is my sweet summer-ride => TREK 8-Series (hardtail) ... oh, but now it even has pedals on it ...
Ooops, I almost forgot => I have a couple more to toss-into the thread ... An interesting neck design ... Cool marks on the obverse & reverse
Looks familiar! Here's mine: Still a little to chilly to comfortably ride here. (I'm lazy and don't want to buy any extra equipment.)
Sweet coins with bankers marks and a great link!!! LOVE those 'muscle cars' !!! The closest I HAD was keeping my 1971 Challenger on the road LOL....I picked it up in Brooklyn when I rotated (new) after putting in an order with an Australian salesman while in Thailand... I can't even imagine the expense involved with vintage restorations. Congrats guys, you all have me extremely jealous!!
