If you don't have the money that's one thing BUT it's not about you when you send a new discovery in, ok it's say 20% about you (ego), the other 80% is about getting it properly listed so others that find one can go to the known listings and try to match theirs. So by not sending in a possible new discovery it's a little bit of a selfish thing. However, yes, the basics like food & meds come first!

Maybe a member into homestead dd's will want this and trade you so they can get it listed though? Any who, nice to see you posting more than modern cracks

This one is not for sale or trade it's one of the 5% of the homesteads that are similar to the ones Wexler has displayed the other 95% I can match as I'm sure a lot of you can that have your own homestead WDDR's. If I was selfish I would not display them at all to me if a member sees that he has one that looks like this and he submits it and gets first listing that's great and the credit an official documentation. :blackalien: \V/

i'm in north eastern mass. the loomis over here I have NEVER got a silver quarter, their rolls are shrink wrapped. the only silver color in them was Canadian coins. after a while you can tell the color difference, the different kind of shine, and how thin it is. I bring the roll back unopened and get another roll. loomis rolls are rare. my bank usually uses brinks I think.

what's my point? let me explain it. (try to keep up) in this post I am quoting you on you said "i would say a 40" right? in in earlier post of yours you also wrote...
"The closest one I found in Wexler's was WDDR-001 that one was in the lower right window and bigger so we do know it's a WDDR :blackalien:\V/" right? so if you thought the closest file was the 001. you obviously didn't scroll down. if you knew the other one was a 40, then you should have known the first coin was a 39....because you would have to scroll by 39 to match the 40. so how did you find the 40 and not the 39 accurately? so in the end you really knew nothing, right???

retained die chips? are you serious right now. I have NEVER heard of something like that. can you give me the website you got that off of? honestly it sounds like a made up thing to try to add some value to it. something someone would say on ebay to try to make some money. if anyone else has heard of a "retained die chip" please let me know.

Okay does retained die crack make a difference if not I'm open for suggestions all I know is eventually these pieces of metal came out and the results would be a die chip okay how about die crack with retained surface metal that's exactly what it is :blackalien: \V/

Sir most your statement is correct my point of view all I wanted to know if it was considered a double die not if it was a new fine not if it was a one-of-a-kind that really doesn't matter to me not concerning a quarter which will probably never leave my collection, you're entitled to your opinion and I respect that :blackalien: \V/

I guess you are closer to Phil than I am. I got a new box today from a different branch. My Loomis are paper wrapped rolls so I have to open them all to see what's in them. I have been through a lot of boxes and only found 2 silver quarters. So far 12 rolls, only one DDR Homestead. Not sure I will finish the box today. I wish I could get better DDRs out here in NC even if they are already listed. I was at the Baltimore Whitman show this past weekend and we stayed in Alexandria, VA and I wanted to go to the bank branch there and pick up a box figuring it's close to Phil and might have more Homesteads in it but the wife said no...lol.

Yes, @usmc60 is using the incorrect terminology by adding "retained" to a die chip or crack. It's just a die chip or crack. The only thing that can be retained is a cud I believe and that's only if it's a die crack that goes from edge to edge with rim involvement at both ends. Then it's a "retained cud" because the piece of the die was retained and hadn't fell away yet. Although, I wonder, if you have a small circular die crack coming back on itself, would that be a retained die chip?

cascada Will find out in a couple weeks what the Pro has to say. I'll do a little more research on retained die cracks the last time I checked on these I only found them in 1c was at the time the only examples I found but I'll keep looking from what I read the jagged saw like edge was the indicator for a retained die crack, you know I hate smelling bacon and that only occurs when my brain is thinking too much you gentlemen have a tendency to do that make me use my brain I don't like that. And until we get the official answer I'll have to call it what it is, a obvious die crack with retained surface metal and the only reason I say that is the die crack under the L in liberty retains the design element within the crack as you can see in the photo. And I'm sure you've checked out cuds on coins there is a lot of retain this and retain that but that's not the site I found on the 1c I'll get back with you on that :blackalien: \V/
