Hey all, I had a few 1891 morgans lying around (one graded ms64 and has been sold) and I received back another about a month ago. It has great eye appeal, and I thought it had the possibility of grading an ms64. What do you think, may be a long shot but its not as bad as some other 63s I have encountered. I apologize for the slab photos (not my speciality) have attached pcgs true view as well.

I can see 63+ but the decent price jump between 63 to 64 means they will scrutinize it more and not just casually assign a 64. They obviously didn't want to take the leap. It's a little baggy and those black specs are distracting. The color will give it a slight premium though maybe in the $250-300 range at ms63

I'd call it a pretty "borderline" upgrade. The coin stands decently on its' eye appeal anyway; drive the resale on that rather than grade potential.

Thanks Guys, Seems to be what I was thinking as well. Not sure if it would be worth cracking out and resubmitting unless I did a bulk submission. The previous 64 did have slightly less wear, for whatever reason I had this feeling it could pull 64 as well.

I think it's a solid upper end 63 but with the price jump I don't see it upgrading a good candidate for a cac sticker tho

It is accurate, and not attractive enough for a CAC.

Certainly looks like a solid 63 and could give you a bit of premium with the toning. Looks like a nice one.

I don't know , I've seen some real dogs with the bean on them . As long as it's solid or better for the grade it'll bean . Toning doesn't come into CACs equation from what I've seen . IMHO .

The grader is saying, for their money, for their price guide, that's all. Crack it out and send it right back, and it might MS64.
