Am I mistaken or have they upped the subscription prices substantially vs the old owners? Under the old owners I could get a montly greysheet, supplement, plus a quarterly every quarter for like $57 for 6 months. Last week I inquired about this and it was much more expensive. Since CF is now free, I have decided to dump the Greysheet.
I'm in the same boat now. I've been getting the monthly for quite a few years and am due for a renewal. Your former monthly at $57 for 6 months is now is now $99. For the info I get from the greysheet I can pass and use several other sources. I am not going to renew.
Player11, Kanga: We're very sorry at CDN to lose any subscriber, and I hope you will reconsider. After 6 months of working night and day to improve the sheets, we took a hard look at costs and expenses and realized that the old subscription rates were barely higher than postage and printing costs. For example, the main Greysheet subscription came in at $127 per year, for 51 weekly issues, 12 Monthly supplement issues and 12 Quarterly issues. That's $1.69 per printed newsletter. I think we can all agree that was a price level that could not be maintained unless we were to operate at a loss. We've raised rates to a more sustainable level and they come in around $3 per issue for the annual subscription. Yes, this is nearly double, but taken on it's own still a GREAT deal. I think they are worth far more and I think ignoring Greysheet pricing to save a few dollars is likely to cost you much more in the long term. Thank you for raising your concerns, as it gives us an opportunity to address them. -John Feigenbaum
I don't believe Cac coins should be assigned a premium in the CDN. It smacks of an artificial pricing system and eBay auction data does not support this on my view, especially in coins I have tracked. Furthermore Cac does not take submissions from collectors or new submitters at this time! The bid of a Certified coin should be based on the grade on the holder by the TPG. Cac is only an opinion someone agrees with the grade. Coins may trade above or below wholesale based on the opinion of the buyer. This is a subjective process. Consequently, that a coin is more desirable than a non Cac example can vary wildly.
