Seems like Great Southern has overreached a bit here by providing relatively accurate images and a graded coin - this makes the perfect example of what they do. The initial pair of images provide an overblown appearance of what you're getting, the subsequent ones hint at a darn near Impaired Proof, and the slab confirms it's a ~$500 coin in the real world. That money should buy you a pretty nice PR64 of this issue.
No pic of the entire slab?! No cert #?! 2 different coins in the photos?! Photos stolen?! I smell a rat.
Cert number is 2627417-003 It's definitely not the same coin as shown in the first two pics. NGC price guide says $465.00.
I have to disagree, I think. Basing my opinion solely on that "dot" looking thing between the two 8's, all the images seem to be the same coin, as well as the one imaged on the NGC Cert page. Like I said, a perfect illustration of what they normally do with imaging in order to puff up the coins they offer.
This is just an example of how a coin looks different under different light/angles. My avatar coin has some awesome colors, but only under certain angles. Same as that coin. Not a big deal in my opinion.
McVanderstein is the worst when it comes to this. I wont buy from them anymore. Their pictures and what the coin looks like in hand are two different things.
The seller is not Great Southern Coins. It looks like someone trying to offload one of their purchase mistakes from Great Southern Coins for more than it is worth. The pictures that show the true state of the coin are those of the current seller, whereas the highly complimentary and fantasy first images are those from the original GSC auction. Regardless, your comments are all correct regarding the quality issues and the fact that it's about 2.5 times the guide book value of a PF61.
Okay SEE I did learned that lesson was week or two about taking a pic a different angle especially on toned coins from Super Dave SEE I DO PAY ATTENTION SOMETIMES.......
Thank you for the correction. Like most of us, the moment I saw that characteristic logo on the bottom left of the first image, I knee-jerked hard enough to fracture my patella and posted accordingly.
