Hey all! I'm relatively new here and one thing I've heard repeatedly is buy the book before the coin. My late uncle left me a partially complete Lincoln cent collection (1909-1973) and I have since finished the 1974-present partof it out of circulation and I'm ready to begin actively pursuing the missing coins in the first 3 decades of the collection, so... I guess my question is: What is the standard book to buy for Lincoln Cents (before you buy the coins). thanks in advance, CD
Looking Through Lincoln Cents- Daughtrey The Standard Guide to the Lincoln Cent- Taylor The RPM Book- Wexler, Miller Cherrypicker's Guide- Fivaz, Stanton The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents- Lange I'd recommend them all.
The "Red Book" on U.S. coins is a good start. It is available at most book stores and all coin shops. For online help, here is what I use: http://www.saharacoins.com/grading/lincolncents.htm http://www.coinfacts.com/small_cents/cents_lincoln_wheat_reverse.html http://www.coppercoins.com/ http://www.ecoinprices.com/lincoln-cents-1.htm This should get you started in the right direction. Good luck.
